TEXT ON THE BACKSIDE:
"Hu-po-kri-te" - Greek word meaning actor, stage player.
Ancient Greek tragedies were originally written for just one actor. They were a solo performance. But during the time of Sophocles, a second actor was enlisted, calle the hupokrite. His job was to offer the opposite perspective. His presence created tension, antagonism, and drama.
We are not much different that the ancient Greeks. We like to present a face to the world that is respectable. It looks nice, responsible, even spiritual,
But we have another face, a second actor: who we are when no one else is looking. Is it possible that some of the stress and tension in your life is because you have become a hupokrite - one thing on the outside, but something different on the inside?
A mask may feel okay for an hour. But whenever we trade being real for being accepted, we venture into territory that belongs to the enemy of God. Perhaps it's time you prayer, "Lord, make me whole - the same person in private as in public."
During the coming Life Action revival summit, you can get honest with yourself. Be encouraged. God has a special heart for those who are ready to get real. It's time to breathe free again...without the mask.
"Surely you desire truth in the inner parts." Psalm 51:6
