Thirst is Real; Substitution Is Empty

Substitutions come in all forms.  Consider sugar substitutes.  The pink stuff causes cancer; the blue stuff causes memory loss; they don't know yet what's wrong with the yellow stuff, but it's three times the price.

These alternatives remind us of sin: cancerous, confusing, and costly.  It might taste sweet, but it leaves a nasty aftertaste.

We fall for attractive substitutes all the time.  God put it this way: "My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water" (Jer. 2:13)

If we don't have intimacy with our Father, we will look for happiness in other places.  But even good things - work, relationships, goals, wealth, hobbies - withoug God are broken wells that only give us drops.

The coming LIfe Action THIRST conference will offer you an opportunity to examine your substitutes.  God longs to satisfy us with a deluge of living water.  Will you come aside to drink from His spring?

Don't settle for empty substitutes.  Uncover your thirst.
