Audition Info

Children's Ministry Audition 

In order for us to better understand your abilities, we would like to see you in action as you interact with children. We would like a video/DVD of at least ten minutes of you working with children. This does not have to be a staged event; we simply would like to see you in action. Please do not feel like you need to have a professional video made. It may be as simple as having children in your home and telling them a Bible story. Have fun and be creative!

Your DVD audition must include:         

• Your name and where you live
• Your salvation testimony
• Your burden for children's ministry
• A Bible lesson (at least 10 minutes long) with application to children (personally taught by you).

If possible, teach the lesson to children, but if necessary it may be done directly to the camera.  (This segment can be a Sunday School Class, AWANA, Vacation Bible School, or even a few children being taught in your home.)

Vocal Audition        

Your CD audition (we only accept CDs) needs to include:

• Your vocal range (exercise through scales from your lowest to your highest notes)
• A solo (accompanied by piano or track) which demonstrates your vocal range
• An a cappella solo
• Life Action Vocal Sight-reading exercise sent to you (it is our preference that voice enhancements not be used)

Piano Audition

Please include the following on your audition CD:

• An offertory
• Two hymns of your choice
• A five-minute praise and worship package (including at least two modulations)
• If possible, two songs by ear (played without written music); please list these specifically

Guitar Audition

Please include the following on your audition CD:

• Faster song (hymn or chorus) from a lead sheet--strum and mute (one verse and chorus for each style--muted guitar is optional, depending on the level of the guitarist)
• Slower song (hymn or chorus) from a lead sheet--strum and pick (one verse and chorus for each style)
• Strum a song from an octavo (choir music with chords), with a pianist playing along

Solo Instrument Audition

Please include the following on your audition CD:

• A three-octave scale in any key (identify the key on the application)
• A solo (with or without accompaniment)
• Two instrumental obbligatos to a hymn or chorus (preferably one by ear, listed specifically) with accompaniment (accompaniment can be provided)

Percussion Audition

Have: (1) a pianist, keyboardist, and/or guitarist, and (2) vocalists and/or worship leader participate in the audition.

Please include the following on your audition CD:

• A 2-minute a cappella rhythm exercise (use drum set or hand percussion)
• A 4- to 6-song worship set with multiple meters, tempos, and styles (use drum set or hand percussion)
