Obedience

God loves his children. He knows we cannot fully experience and enjoy his love unless we are obedient to Him. Obeying God is not meant to be a sterile, cold requirement; rather, it is a willing, glad-hearted response to One who loves us extravagantly and has our best interests at heart. God does not stand by at a distance, demanding our obedience. Rather, He blesses us by allowing us to be a part of accomplishing his purposes. He calls us to surrender, invites us to follow, empowers us to serve, and than blesses our obedience.

The apostle Paul declares, "By him [Jesus Christ] all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him. (1 Samuel 15:22-23, NASB) We love worship. It’s almost trendy to throw your head back, lift your hands, close your eyes, and sway to a glorious song about God ...

God At Work In Revival

A businessman reflects on the lessons he has learned in God’s school of obedience.

“God’s way works!” This simple but profound truth summarizes what Richard Magnussen emphatically believes. It is a lesson he has been learning by experiences that have sometimes been pleasant and sometimes painful.

In 1984 Richard was the president of a growing Canada-based furniture manufacturing company. He was also a husband and father and served as a deacon in his church. According to Richard, he recalls nothing “off-side” about his life at the time. He wasn’t aware of any major struggles at home, in ...
