In the technological era in which we live, information is being generated at a phenomenal rate. In fact, current estimates predict that knowledge will be doubling every year by 2002. Given this dizzying progress, it would be natural (though incorrect) to assume that the human race is well on its way to solving all of the problems of life.
Despite all the advances, the “new solutions”of modernity do not appear to be addressing the “old problems” of unhappiness and lack of peace that have plagued human existence throughout history.

Thousands of years ago, King Solomon warned that until men embrace their duty to “fear God and keep his commandments,” new discoveries would never bring ultimate meaning to life (Eccl. 12:13). He knew this to be true, not because there was nothing more to know, but rather because true satisfaction was only possible through a right relationship with God.

Our responsibility as Christians is to stick to a biblical diagnosis of the human condition. No matter how advanced society becomes, the fundamental problem of sin must be dealt with God’s way.

I trust that the sermons and manuscripts from various men of God represented in this issue of Heartcry! will lead you further along the old paths of the timeless wisdom of the Scriptures. And my prayer is that this path will lead us all to a fresh encounter with the God of Revival, until He comes in might and power upon our land.
