“Revival cannot be organized, but we can set our sails to catch the wind from heaven when God chooses to blow upon His people once again.”
— G. Campbell Morgan
1 For the 41st consecutive year, Life Action’s traveling teams leave Staff Training and begin their fall schedule in churches across America. Pray that this travel year will be marked by the power and presence of God’s Spirit.
2 Ryan Loveing and the Revival Conference Team minister this Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church in Holland, Michigan. Ask God to encourage this church and give them an even greater thirst for revival.
3 Laine Johnson, Wilson Green, and the Red Team begin an 11-day summit tomorrow at Second Baptist Church in Lafayette, Georgia. Pray that the hearts of the leaders and congregation will be open to obeying God’s direction for them, personally and corporately.
4 Steve Canfield, Jeremiah Canfield, and the Blue Team begin a 15-day summit today at First Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Ask God to accomplish an extraordinary work in this church and community for His glory.
5 Revive Our Hearts is celebrating ten years of fruitful ministry, and on the last weekend of this month will host a Partner Retreat in Austin, Texas. Pray for Nancy and other leaders as they interact with ministry partners, celebrate God’s faithfulness, and anticipate future ministry.
6 Ask God to open doors of ministry for the Collegiate Impact staff this fall, leading them to the colleges where students and faculty members are genuinely seeking Him for campus awakening.
7 Ask God to impress on the hearts of our publications staff the topics that will powerfully address the genuine needs of those who will receive and read the printed material.
8 The Revive Our Hearts staff continue to prepare for the November 4–5 revive ’11 conference, for women who minister in leadership to other women, to be held in Indianapolis, Indiana. Pray that women leaders will visit the website, view the promotional video, and make plans to attend.
9 Life Action has produced a 12-chapter workbook, Seeking Him, which is geared for use by small groups or individuals, biblically addressing many of the issues our teams deal with when they minister in local churches. Pray that many will make use of this study.
10 Beginning tomorrow, Ryan Loveing and the Revival Conference Team minister in a 4-day THIRST conference at Berrien Center Bible Church in Berrien Center, Michigan. Pray that leaders and others alike will obey whatever God shows them during these days and beyond.
11 Pray for our pre-summit staff as they minister today at Briar Hill Baptist Church in Florence, Mississippi, and at Ogden Church in Adrian, Michigan.
12 Construction is nearly complete on the Revive Our Hearts recording studio at our National Ministry Center. Pray that from this facility, God’s truth will continue to reach the hearts of women around the world with His messages for them.
13 The continual prayer of the Life Action staff, whatever their responsibility or department, is that God will send sweeping national revival to America. Would you join us in this urgent prayer, and also ask God to raise up more intercessors across the country who will pray toward this end?
14 Paula Hendricks, on staff with Revive Our Hearts, and other writers offer a daily blog on the True Woman website, covering a wide range of topics and inviting reader response. Pray that many women will find and use this blog as a tool for spiritual growth.
15 It costs nearly $800,000 yearly to operate our road teams as they travel and host summits and conferences. Please ask the Lord to provide financially through each event’s love offering.
16 The Lodge staff is hosting a “Couples’ Retreat at The Lodge” event today through Sunday. Pray that God would do such a work in the couples attending that their home churches and communities will benefit as a result.
17 Tomorrow Ryan Loveing and the Revival Conference Team open a 4-day THIRST conference at Mayfair Bible Church in Flushing, Michigan. Ask God to saturate Ryan and the team with His power as they minister.
18 Laine Johnson, Wilson Green, and the Red Team serve the congregation at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama, through the 28th of this month. Intercede for the leaders, the team, and the congregation, that a deep and lasting work of God’s Spirit will mark this time.
19 Pray for pastors and their wives enjoying a time of retreat at The Lodge this week, that God would bless them with days of refreshing, renewal, and vision regarding His direction for their lives.
20 Jason and Terri Theriault have accepted the call to join our staff and have begun the Ministry Partner Development process. They live in New Hampshire with their five children. Please pray for God’s grace and provision for their family during this time.
21 Mike and Trina Crescenzi, who have ministered with Life Action for 12 years, are moving to the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Mike will maintain his present responsibilities and also be available to represent Life Action in the southeast. Please pray for them as they make this transition.
22 Cover our National Ministry Center staff as you intercede today, asking God to help them walk in the power of His Spirit, serving in an excellent way “behind the scenes.”
23 Pray this weekend for our pre-summit staff as they minister at Friendship Baptist Church in Paducah, Kentucky, and at Bethesda Baptist Church in Brownsburg, Indiana.
24 Tomorrow Ryan Loveing and the Revival Conference Team open a 4-day THIRST conference at Emmanuel Free Will Baptist Church in Wabash, Indiana. Pray that they will focus on the needs revealed and be available to God’s Spirit for deep ministry.
25 Today through October 9, Steve Canfield, Jeremiah Canfield, and the Blue Team lead a summit at Grace Church in Morton, Illinois. Cover this team and congregation as you pray, asking God to genuinely meet with them in power during these sessions.
26 The Life Action Camp hosts its fall Momentum retreat this week, where men meet with Tom Harmon for fellowship and deeper growth in their walk with Christ. Pray for Tom as he speaks and for the men attending as they meet this Wednesday through Friday.
27 One of the primary concerns on the hearts of our staff with children is that these loved ones will truly walk with God as they grow into adulthood. Please cover our children, teens, and young adults with your prayers.
28 The Lodge will host a Times of Refreshing retreat for Women’s Ministry Directors Thursday through Saturday. Cover these servants of Christ with your prayers, asking God to revitalize them and prepare them for future months of leading women in their churches and communities.
29 We welcome Vincent and René Arrioja to our staff. Please pray that their home in Alabama would sell quickly so they can fully join us in Michigan.
30 High-schoolers descend on the Life Action Camp this weekend to be challenged from God’s Word at the Ignite youth conference. Pray that God’s Spirit will capture these young hearts and develop future godly leaders from this group.
Live
God has not called us to be “successful,” as the world measures success, but to be faithful. It is not our responsibility to promote ourselves or the outward, visible growth of our ministry. If we will take care of the “depth” of our lives, God will take care of the “breadth” of our ministry. In other words, it’s important that each one of us has a genuine walk with Christ that goes much deeper than what can be seen on the surface.
We want to serve God with our whole heart. We believe that if we are faithful in developing our relationship with God, He will then provide opportunities for our ministry to affect as many others as He chooses. He can use one person or one ministry, faithful to Him, to reach thousands or even millions of others.
We want to avoid being a ministry that is getting “big” without developing truth in the lives of our staff. Over the years, as we have been conscious to apply this principle, God has expanded and contracted our outreaches as He has seen fit, all for His glory.
Are you daily taking care of the depth of your walk with Christ? Are you trusting Him to manage the breadth of your ministry and open doors for you to reach your neighbor and your world for Him?
Give
Is your giving an extension of your relationship with Christ? Everything we have is on loan from God, a gift to steward for a time as He directs. Often our revivalists challenge hearers to make a list of all their earthly possessions. The speaker then asks if the listeners will yield control of their entire list to God, acknowledging that He is the true Owner of it all.
It’s not unusual for people to have some things on their list that they easily give over to God’s control, and some things they surrender to Him because they know it’s right, although not easy. But most of us find that there are a handful of things we just aren’t ready to release. Either we are more strongly attached to them than to God, or we don’t really believe He can take care of them better than we can.
Yielding all we have to Jesus is a significant outward evidence of a heart that trusts the One who loves us immeasurably. We don’t want to just drop money in the offering plate if our gifts don’t flow from a heart of love and obedience and the sheer joy of sharing. Rather, we want to be like the Christians mentioned in 2 Corinthians 8:3-5, who first gave themselves to the Lord; then they gave “as much as they were able, and even beyond their ability,” pleading for the privilege to give.
Let your giving be “deep” in proportion to what you have, and trust God to use your obedience to change lives for His glory.
