Ministry Updates

Dave Warn, Collegiate Impact Director, has just returned from Montana State University, in his words “floating home” because of how God is moving there. The following excerpts share evidence of genuine signs of revival he observed firsthand in the last few days:

God is moving at Montana State University! Mark Gauthier, National Director for Campus Crusade for Christ, has recently said on a number of occasions that the closest thing he has seen to revival is what’s happening right now at MSU.

  • Last fall I spent time with the male leadership of a major campus ministry group at MSU. The men spent intense time in repentance over sexual sins in their lives. On this trip (almost three months later), person after person came up to me and explained the work of grace in their hearts and the freedom they have experienced since that season of repentance.
  •  I met with directors of the Baptist Student Union, Chi Alpha, and InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. All three were doing much better than even a year ago, and the Chi Alpha director said in summary, “The wind is at our backs!” This year, InterVarsity has grown from 40 to almost 80 students, and God is moving among all three of these groups. Campus Crusade now has over 400 students involved and continues to grow, but not at the expense of the other ministries. Athletes in Action, both students and coaches, are moving forward in fruitfulness.
  •  A co-worker and I sat at the Campus Crusade staff meeting for an hour, listening to story after story of students coming to Christ, sacrificing to live in the dorms to reach more students for Christ, and seeing many other works of God. After a while, I joked that this whole sharing time must have been a setup, because there were so many accounts of God at work it became overwhelming. But the CC staff assured us that all the stories were true. We agreed that our friends who have seen God work greatly in other national and international revivals would concur that what we are seeing at MSU is a taste of authentic revival.
  • The following are two examples out of many regarding the obvious work of God’s Spirit:

At the men’s retreat, I was a bit uncertain as to what to do next during the Saturday evening session. One man shared his recent journey into personal revival, and upon his conclusion I still did not know how to lead the group next. As he finished, there were only 3–4 seconds before I had to say something. As I made way to the podium, suddenly from the very back, one of the men said, “Can I confess something?” God clearly took over, and the rest of the evening was one of confession and testimonies of God at work.

Earlier today I received a phone call from a Campus Crusade staff member who said, “Last night I led both of my small groups, and although I had prepared the lessons, we never got to them. All the men wanted to do was share about the joy in their hearts or confess more sin.”

These were the kind of rumblings we heard before the Asbury Revival and Jesus Movement in the 70's. Oh, Lord, please let it increase and grow and send a great revival on our campuses!!!

Father, thank you for your son, Jesus Christ, and for your Holy Spirit empowerment on college campuses. Empower students and young adults (and each of us) with wisdom, courage and sensitivity to the stirrings of your Holy Spirit. Give us willing hearts of obedience.

When I read testimonies like these, I do not get sceptical if the foundation is God based. I do get envious to be apart of an opportunity like this. I am then reminded by the Holy Spirit That He wants it much more than I do. He then exposes to me my shortcommings, and sins that He cannot be a part of. In otherwords, I am the stumbling block in my own revival!

I volunteer at our local college. Currently, our ministry, as well as our ministry partner, Campus Crusade, is struggling. How I desire to see the spirit move like that!
