Ministry Updates

If you sat a select group of women leaders around a table and interviewed them regarding feminism, biblical womanhood, and mentoring the next generation of women, what would happen?

We know the answer, because Revive Our Hearts, with Nancy Leigh DeMoss, recently hosted Erin Davis, Holly Elliff, Dannah Gresh, Mary Kassian, Karen Loritts, Carolyn McCulley, and Kim Wagner at Life Action's National Ministry Center in Michigan for a video shoot. This panel of women did not hesitate to speak with passion on these important topics that affect women worldwide.

If you haven't caught the series of blogs written by Paula Hendricks, which covers this event, we'll give you a quick "glimpse" into our auditorium, converted to a recording studio that day, and some of the conversations that were taped for future airing.

The women grappled honestly, from a biblical perspective, with tough questions of great importance in today's culture. They acknowledged that while contemporary feminists see the damage that has been done to women in many areas, they blame men for the problems instead of realizing that sin is the root.

Classic feminists believe the way to cure society's evils is to empower women to be more powerful than the men in their lives and to behave aggressively toward them. But the women on our panel contended that God's better design and plan truly addresses the cause and the cure for society's ills.

In their first session, the women were asked to answer this question: As you think about these aspects of womanhood, which one have you found most challenging?

  • Softness
  • Forming deep relational bonds
  • Having a welcoming, responsive spirit
  • Creating a place to beget and nurture life
  • Being a helper to your man

The second video was on Gender Matters. The women talked about how:

  • God created humans to put His glory on display
  • The relationship between male and female tells an amazing spiritual story
  • God's plan for gender is centered in the work of Jesus Christ (it's not about us!)
  • Our womanhood has profound significance and worth
  • True womanhood means saying yes to who God created us to be as true women

Other topics covered in the eight videos include:

  • the history of the secular women's movement
  • gender confusion
  • sisterhood
  • beauty from the inside out
  • the responsibility of Christian women in this generation to biblically mentor those in the coming generations

Following are a few quotes from the eight video sessions. Click here to read more, and watch for these videos on the True Woman website in March!

"Your womanhood is not a biological accident. It's not a matter of chance. God was intentional when He made you a woman, and He wants you to discover, embrace, and delight in His spectacular design" (Mary Kassian).

"After God creates each thing, He says it's good. But when He creates male and female, God says it's VERY good. As we embrace that, we're going to experience God's blessings! Not only today but throughout our lives, the challenge is to be women who say yes-to be responsive not just to other men and women, but to the Lord" (Nancy Leigh DeMoss).

"I think the fear with biblical womanhood is that God will change or violate our personalities. That's simply not true. God can take these characteristics we've talked about and pour them into any personality type. You're going to become more you!" (Mary Kassian).

"It's not miserable to become the woman God made you to be" (Holly Elliff).
