“Washington was kneeling there with Henry, Randolph, Rutledge, Lee, and Jay, and by their side there stood, bowed in reverence, the Puritan Patriots of New England. ‘It was enough,’ says Mr. Adams, ‘to melt a heart of stone.’”
(Commentary on the first prayer offered in Congress, in response to an enemy attack on Boston, convened at Carpenter’s Hall, Philadelphia, Sept. 7, 1774)

Please cover our road team speakers and their families with your prayers today. Steve and Debby Canfield, Jeremiah and Stephanie Canfield, Laine and Janet Johnson, Wilson and Laura Green, Ryan and Maryann Loveing, and Ben and Jennifer Slenk desire to be used of God’s Spirit to impact lives with His truth.

2 The White Team opened a 4-day THIRST conference yesterday at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Pray that God’s Spirit will stir a longing for His intense presence in this body.

3 Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark, Alabama, is hosting the Red Team for an 11-day summit which continues through November 10. Ask God to work powerfully through His Word to change hearts.

4 Cry out to God for His intervention in our land—for great repentance, for His cleansing that we so desperately need, and for those who stand for His truth to be elected today.

5 Fathers and their sons descend on the camp today for a weekend retreat. Ask God to encourage and empower these men to walk with Him in unity and purity in today’s culture.

6 Collegiate Impact is sponsoring various initiatives and collaborating with other ministries to influence our nation’s campuses. Pray for Dave Warn as he provides direction.

7 The White Team conducts a THIRST conference today through Wednesday at Rileyville Baptist Church in Rileyville, Virginia. Pray that God’s anointing would be on the leaders and team and that the church’s response would be one of obedience to the Word.

8 Yesterday, the Blue Team opened a 15-day summit at Raiford Road Church in Macclenny, Florida. Steven Canfield will be the Family Revivalist for this summit. Ask God for a powerful time of life-changing work in hearts as the team serves.

9 Pray today for Ken and Jane Oswald, hosts at The Lodge. Ask God for health, stamina, and wisdom as they extend Christ’s love through hospitality to the many groups who use this facility.

10 Tomorrow, Women’s Ministry Directors gather at The Lodge for three intensive days designed to challenge and encourage them to effectively meet the deep spiritual needs of ladies under their influence.

11 Sarah Stevenson, Sarah Krause, Carrie Gaul, and Andrea Griffith comprise the key speaker team for this weekend’s Women’s Ministry Directors’ retreat at The Lodge. Ask God to give them His wisdom as they serve the ladies.

12 Tween girls (ages 7–10) and their mothers convene tomorrow at Van Dyke Church in Lutz, Florida, for the Pure in Heart conference sponsored by Revive Our Hearts. Pray that God will bless the grandmas, moms, and girls with His tangible presence and give them a deep desire for personal purity.

13
This weekend, three of our pre-summit speakers are preparing churches for upcoming summits and THIRST conferences. Please pray for them as they minister in Laurinburg, North Carolina; Clinton, Mississippi; and Marys, Georgia.

14 Pray for the THIRST conference at Heartland Alliance Church in Mt. Gilead, Ohio, today through Wednesday, and for the White Team as, by God’s grace, they encourage
thirst for His Word and His presence.

15 The Red Team is ministering in an 8-day summit at Rehobeth Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama. Please ask God to anoint them with power from on high, in order to produce deep spiritual change for His kingdom.

16 The budget for our three road teams is $1.2 million annually. Please entreat the Lord to bring in this amount through church love offerings and whatever other means He chooses. Pray that His people’s hearts will be sensitive to yield every material possession to His control.

17 Every day, Life Action communicates to multiple age groups through its outreaches: children, tweens, youth, college-age, adults, and seniors. Pray that all our materials and programs would be Word- and Christ-centered, achieving life-changing results for Christ’s kingdom.

18 Pray today for wisdom and creativity for those who work with the many printed materials Life Action produces, and for the graphic designers who add visual interest to the texts.

19 Please pray for Collegiate Impact as they host an overnight Ignition Retreat for Bethel College (Indiana) students.

20 Lift up Byron Paulus, our National Executive Director, and his wife, Sue, today as they willingly carry many responsibilities in leading our ministry and modeling Christ for their children and grandchildren.

21 Today, pray for Martin Jones, Managing Director of Revive Our Hearts, and his wife, Helen, as they faithfully carry much responsibility for this rapidly growing outreach. Ask for wisdom, protection, and daily grace.

22 Pray for Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Revive Our Hearts today. They minister to women around the world through daily radio broadcasts, print publications, True Woman conferences, Pure in Heart conferences, and other avenues.

23 Please cover Jeremiah and Stephanie Canfield and their coming fourth child with your prayers as they spend time away from the Blue Team due to complications with Stephanie’s current pregnancy.

24 We are so grateful for the funds and volunteer labor God provided to help finish a staff dining room for our National Ministry Center. Other groups in the area have also enjoyed using this beautiful room.

25 Give thanks to God, who generously places His plans in the hearts of His people and invites us to work with Him to reach those who long for His light. What a privilege! Happy Thanksgiving Day.

26 The new two-story, deluxe, log cabin cottage on our camp property is finished and has already been used by several families. A verse painted on the stairwell wall encourages the guests to “go home and tell your family what great things the Lord has done for you.” Thank you for praying; God is using this peaceful haven powerfully in families’ lives.

27 Jeff and Jeannie Bryant and their family recently moved to Michigan to join our Road Team Services division. Though their financial support has been raised, they still need to sell the home they own in Georgia. Pray that God will provide the right buyer in a timely manner.

28 The Blue Team serves in an 8-day summit beginning today at First Baptist Church in Trenton, Ohio. Murrill Boitnott and Jimmy Herdklotz will be filling in for the revivalists. They and the team would be thankful for your intercession on their behalf.

29 The Red Team opened an 8-day summit yesterday at Eternity Baptist Church in Centralia, Illinois. Dan Puckett and David Hastings are filling in for the revivalists. Pray that God does a work in the “heartland” of our nation that will influence many other churches and towns.

30 Our road teams have been going strong since September, serving in demanding (and rewarding) ministry. Ask God to give them health, stamina, and focus as they finish their fall ministry schedule before heading into a December break.

Live

“The Message of the Cross” is a foundational value to which Life Action adheres for direction in ministry. Following Christ’s example of forgiveness and powerful mercy as He died to reconcile a hostile world to His Father, we also want to take the hard but necessary path of forgiving those who have wronged us.

Jonathan Goforth was a Canadian missionary greatly used of God in revival in China in the early twentieth century. He often found that God’s divine touch was experienced in a
village, school, or region when Chinese Christians (including leaders) confessed bitterness toward others in the body, asking forgiveness for their attitudes and intentions. Some of the bitterness ran so deep that more than once, a church member had been secretly contemplating taking the life of another church member or leader.

When Chinese Christians obediently laid open their inner lives to the members of their congregation or Christian school, asking for forgiveness and forgiving those who had wronged them (or their ancestors), God’s Spirit was free to work mightily. Culturally reserved leaders and even hardened young men, in some cases criminals, were dramatically changed during times of revival and spiritual awakening. (Examples taken from By My Spirit, by Jonathan Goforth.)

Are you holding tightly to bitterness, or will you take the path of Christ—the way of the cross—and forgive?

Give

Will God use gifts given to His work by those who are harboring bitterness? He will bless the gifts, even as He used Jonah’s message in the lives of the Ninevites. Jonah finally went where God sent him, though he was still not fond of his mission field nor happy when the people repented and God forgave them.

How much more will God use gifts given with a humble, obedient, rejoicing heart? The Christians in Hebrews gave unreservedly; they even expressed a spirit of joy when their homes were plundered by their enemies (Hebrews 10:34). It must have taken a real spirit of forgiveness toward their attackers to continue following Christ in these circumstances; but they knew that the cross changes everything, dimming the shine of earthly possessions by its superior light.

Will you reconcile with those toward whom you are bitter? Will you give today out of a heart free from the weights that so easily beset us all (Hebrews 12:1-2)? Will you run the race and give with grace, your eyes fixed on our forgiving Savior?
