Ministry Updates

I am writing from Charleston, SC, where 700 people are beginning a twelve-week journey of going through the Seeking Him study in small groups. I had the privilege last night of speaking at the launch of this church-wide emphasis on revival. East Cooper Baptist Church is a great work of God where body-life seems to be flourishing through community groups. They are engaging deeply in the process of seeking the Lord for individual and corporate revival. The pastor is preaching on the Seeking Him themes and spending time each week with his leadership to ensure they model the message as influencers within the church.

In addition, I had the privilege of urging their people to become a part of the National Weekly Prayer Meeting for revival, beginning this Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 EST, by connecting to the broadcast live or via the Internet (SeekingHim.com). And I encouraged them to listen to Nancy DeMoss on Revive Our Hearts each day as the themes will correlate each week to the broader effort of calling our nation to seek the Lord as never before.

Next weekend a celebration will be taking place near Fulton Street in New York City, in commemoration of the 3rd Great Awakening. As many of you recall, the prayer meetings that surged in the financial district became both the birthing place and the model of what God chose to use to spark the 1857-58 widespread move of His Spirit. It resulted in an estimated one million new converts in just 18 months. Extrapolated to today’s population equivalents, it would mean 10 million people would come to Christ in a similar spiritual awakening. Can it happen again? In our day?

As the founder of Life Action once declared, “As long as God is on His throne, revival is as possible as the sun rising tomorrow morning.” It is possible because God specializes in redemption.

Our teams are currently in Rocky Mount, NC; Bloomington, IL; and Muskegon, MI. In each of these locations, God is quickening the hearts of those who are taking the time to seek Him afresh. It amazes me (and thrills me), in this era of busy and hectic lifestyles, how such large numbers are coming out each night to “wait upon the Lord.” In most cases, 60-80% of the Sunday morning attendance are making space for God. Who knows but that one of those locations might not be the next Fulton Street . . . the next birthing room for revival in our nation!
