We are living in an age of bombardment. And it is hindering many well meaning believers from reaching their goals. I spend little time watching football. Even less this year, because my favorite college team (Notre Dame) has been dismantled by the “blitz.” The rapidity and force in which opponents reached the ball carrier suffocated their likelihood of success. In the military, the same tactic is called a blitzkrieg—a swift offensive using massive and multiple forces to startle and catch the opposing force off guard.

I am convinced many believers are not achieving their goals because they are under an all-out blitz by the enemy, to first distract and then render us helpless in our attempt to succeed. Whether addressing individual, family, or organizational goals, the stratagem of the enemy is to diminish the force of the Word of God and our intimacy with Jesus. He does it by an increasingly swift intrusion of the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the pleasures of this life (Luke 8:14). Technology has only enabled a more rapid and potent version of this ploy. But fortunately, God has revealed this changeless tactic to us so we can recognize it and counter it successfully.

That’s why revival is so necessary. Our affections determine where we spend our resources. A glance at my checkbook, calendar, and conversations reveal what I love. In other words, my money, my time, and my talk reveal what is important to me.

Perhaps one of the best definitions of revival is simply “falling in love with Jesus all over again.” The greatest deterrent to the blitz is being so in love with Jesus that there is no interest in being distracted. We want to spend all of our resources on Him!

Because of my own propensity to succumb to the enemy’s onslaught of distractions, about once each week I get on my knees after crawling out of bed and pray the following prayer, which was penned by the late Leonard Ravenhill at age 84, while on his deathbed:

Lord, engage my heart today
With a passion that will not go away,
Now torch it with Thy holy fire,
That never more shall earth’s desire
Invade or quench the heaven-born power.
I would be trapped within thy holy will
Thine every holy purpose to fulfill,
That every effort of my life shall bring
Rapturous praise to my eternal King.
I pledge, from this day to the grave
To be Thine own unquestioning slave.

On a ministry-wide level, Life Action is determined to stay single-focused. Revival is our ONE passion. Why? Because we believe revival changes everything! Without revival, hearts grow cold, marriages crumble, families suffer, churches are powerless, and nations fall. With revival, the world experiences Jesus. And with His presence comes a fresh infusion of love, grace, and power that captures the heart and soul of a nation.

Our ONE passion is revival because our ONE love is for the REVIVER! And our goal is to take the offensive, and with all the resources God provides, to blitz the enemy with the love of Christ as modeled through changed lives. That’s why Changed Lives is our only hope to change America. God’s love is simply unstoppable.
